FISHERFOLK FESTIVAL 2015

FISHERFOLK FESTIVAL 2015

Fisherfolk festival 2015 took place on the 19th-21st of June.

The Festival started with a formal Dinner & Entertainment in the Seaboard Memorial Hall featuring guest entertainers from the Black Isle and local talent.

Kicking off the Street Party and the day’s activities, the Dornoch Pipe band played some tunes. Activities  ranged from net mending to making rabbit stew. As 2015 was the ‘Year of Food and Drink’ there was a couple of cooking demonstrations and- courtesy of Glenmorangie House- whisky tasting sessions.

One of the demonstrations which went down a storm last year was the ‘Dressing the Crab’ and Jackie Ross has agreed once again to show how it should be done.

William Paterson and David Skinner (Bunter) gave a helping hand to those who would like a go at net mending or rope work such as knots and splicing. The children were invited to take part in the ‘All Aboard’ activity which recreated the halcyon days of the Sunday School Picnic.

Throughout the day there was street music from various musicians including the award winning Gizzen Briggs, dancers, various food stations, BBQ and Tea Tent with a range of tempting home baking. Inside the Hall there will be a number of stalls displaying Arts and Crafts including work done by the local art group.
